The boys cross country team placed second at the Saturday regional in Great Bend, which qualifies them for the state meet.
Holcomb won the meet at the Lake Barton Golf Course with 29 points, placing all five of their scoring runners in the top 11.
The Broncs finished with 78 points, while Hoisington qualified in third with 95 points.
The state meet will be held Saturday in Lawrence at Rim Rock Farm.
Leading the way for Lakin was the junior tandem of Austin Ritsema and Alex Luce.
Ritsema finished the 5-kilometer course in second place, clocking 16:30.30.
Luce finished third, recording 16:47.55.
Holcomb’s Brody Deniston won the race in 16:10.67.
Zael Bermudez finished 22nd (18:48.27), Gabe Cox 25th (18:57.29) and Justin Leader 34th (19:49.37).
Also running for Lakin were Vicente Davis (38) and Blake Matthews (51).
The Class 3A, 5A and 6A meets are all run at Rim Rock. The 3A boys race will run at 11:10 a.m. with the awards ceremony at 1:35.
The Lakin girls finished fifth as a team with 112 points. Norton, Holcomb and Southwestern Heights took the top three spots to qualify for state.
None of the Lakin girls finished high enough to qualify for state.
Leading the Broncs was Emma Miller. The freshman finished 19th in 22:36.40.
Ivy Davis finished in 33rd, Melany Lorenzo in 38th, Luna Vazquez in 40th, Abby Holmes in 42nd, Kayleen Tanner 44th, and Shillelagh Kentner 47th.
