Girls fall to Holcomb

After winning five straight games, the girls basketball team had their streak snapped Saturday with a 41-25 home loss against Holcomb.
Holcomb held a slim 15-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, and then the Lakin offense went cold.
The Broncs scored just four points in the second period and were shut out in the third as Holcomb led 36-15 with a quarter to play.
Lakin shot just 22 percent from the field (nine of 41), while the Longhorns shot 39 percent.
Lakin held a 31-25 edge on rebounds, but they committed 21 turnovers to Holcomb’s 15.
Jara Davidson led the Broncs with eight points and Jordan McCombs added six.
Samantha Vogel had six rebounds and Davidson had five.
Lakin (5-3) plays in the HPL tournament this week, followed by a home game against Syracuse next Tuesday.
