Boys hold off Syracuse

The boys basketball team avenged an earlier loss to Syracuse by taking down the Bulldogs at home Tuesday, 50-39.
Leading 28-16 at halftime, the Broncs saw their lead slip to just 32-31 in the third quarter.
Despite the Bulldogs outscoring Lakin 17-11 in the third, the Broncs held a 36-33 heading into the final period, where they outscored Syrauces 11-6.
Both teams shot 33 percent from the floor, with Lakin converting five more shots inside the arc and one more free throw to account for the difference.
The Broncs were 4 of 13 from outside the arc, while Syracuse was 4 of 21.
Latin shot just 6 of 16 from the free throw line, while the Bulldogs were 5 off 8.
The Broncs won the rebound battle, 45-29.
Dru Patterson led the Broncs with 11 points. Adrik Gomez-Esquibel and MJ Gonzales both added nine.
Austin Ritsema grabbed eight rebounds and Gonzales seven.
