Boys split triangular

The baseball team split a doubleheader Friday, winning 11-10 against Colby before falling 20-1.
In the first game, Colby scored five runs in the first inning and held a 7-1 lead at the top of the third, when Lakin scored four times.
The Broncs scored two in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to get the win.
Gabe Cox, Eli Bemis and Bode McCormick both had two hits, with Adrik Gomez Esquibel picking up a double for Lakin’s one extra-base hit.
Cox and Grant Mendhall both had two runs batted in.
McCormick started, going 3.2 innings with five strikeouts and eight walks.
Dru Patterson pitched the remainder of the game, picking up the win with three strikeouts and three walks.
Game two was a different story. Tied 1-1 after one inning, Colby scored nine runs in the second and 10 in the third.
The Eagles out hit the Broncs 14-2 and took advantage of four Lakin errors.
Patterson and Enrique Ortega had Lakin’s only hits.
