Softball drops pair to Goodland

The softball team dropped a pair of games at home Friday against Goodland, 9-1 and 8-0.

In the first game, Goodland led 2-0 after three innings before scoring four runs in the fourth and led 9-0 in the final inning before Lakin scored their only run.

The Cowgirls out hit the Broncs 11-3, with Jara Davidson, Julie Arreola and Taybree Lohman-Fuller and Bri Holmes getting the one run batted in.

Lohman-Fuller’s hit was a double.

Moriah Ortiz pitched 4.1 innings, striking out one.

In game two, Goodland scored twice in the first inning and never looked back.

Arreola and Lileah Villa had Lakin’s two hits. They were the only Broncs to reach base.

Only three of Goodland’s eight runs were earned. Ortiz pitched all seven innings, striking out 11 and walking six.
