Baseball sweeps two from Hugoton

The baseball squad took care of Hugoton at home Friday, defeating the Eagles 14-4 and 10-7.
Down 2-1 after one inning in game two, Lakin scored four runs in the second and six in the third to get the win.
The Broncs out hit the Eagles 13-7, led by three hits each from Eli Bemis and Adrik Gomez-Esquibel.
Gomez-Esquibel drove in four runs and Bemis three.
Bemis got the win on the mound, striking out three and walking none.
Earlier, Lakin picked up the win in different fashion. Trailing 6-1 after five innings, the Broncs erupted for nine runs in the sixth inning.
The Broncs out hit the Eagles 8-7 but committed six errors to Hugoton’s three.
Bode McCormick had two of Lakin’s hits and Blair Jones drove in two runs.
McCormick started, pitching 4.2 innings, striking out four and walking eight. Dru Patterson pitched in relief, striking out four and walking one to get the win.
