Baseball drops two to Holcomb

The baseball team had a rough outing at home Thursday, losing to Holcomb 17-7 and 12-2.
In game one, Lakin held a 1-0 lead after two innings and 4-2 after three. But the Longhorns scored five times in the fourth inning, then outscored the Broncs 10-1 over the next three innings.
Holcomb out hit the Broncs 17-6, and Lakin committed 11 errors. Only one of Holcomb’s runs was earned.
Dru Patterson and Eli Bemis each had a double and Bode McCormick had two runs batted in to highlight the Lakin offense.
McCormick started the game, going three innings and striking out four and allowing three runs, only one of which was earned.
Game two went five innings for the 10-run rule, with Holcomb scoring three runs in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings.
Lakin scored their two runs in the third innings.
Bemis had two of Lakin’s five hits, and Gabe Cox had the Broncs’ lone RBI.
Patterson got the start, going 1.2 innings, allowing three hits and six runs, with only two of those earned.
