Softball sweeps to end regular season

The softball team wrapped up the regular season at home Monday with a sweep of Syracuse, 27-0 and 15-0.

Lakin wrapped up the Hi-Plains League title with the wins.

In the first game, Lileah Villa drove in six runs on three hits. That included a triple and an inside-the-park home run.

The Broncs scored 12 runs in the first inning and 15 in the second inning.

Villa and Jara Davidson had three hits each, as well as six RBIs each.

Moriah Ortiz pitched all three innings, giving up no hits or runs while striking out five.

In game two, the Broncs scored 10 runs in the second inning to cruise to the win.

Latin took advantage of 16 walks, and Marieke Van Der Knapp had two runs batted in to lead the Broncs.

Ortiz gave up just one hit and struck out six to get the win.
