Oldham claims two titles at state

Colter Oldham won double gold at the state track and field meet in Wichita.
Oldham claimed the Class 3A discus title with relative ease Friday afternoon and followed that with a win in the shot put on Saturday.
In the discus, the junior threw 180-5 to outdistance second place (159-10) and third (152-11).
Oldham’s best throw came on his sixth and final attempt. However, every one of his six throws would have won the event. His first attempt was 170-8, and two of his other attempts were over 179 feet.
Note: In 2023, he finished fourth in the discus, throwing 165-5. In 2022 he finished third (168-8).
In the shot put, Oldham’s gold-medal attempt of 59-3.75 came on his fifth attempt.
As in the discus, every one of Oldham’s successful shot put attempts would have been good enough to win.
Second place was 54-3.25 and third was 53-6.5.
Oldham’s “worst” effort was 57-0.75, which came on his his first toss.
Note: In 2023, Oldham finished third with a 57-0.75. In 2022, as a freshman he finished seventh (50-2.75).
