Cross country races in Syracuse

The cross country teams competed in Syracuse Saturday.
The boys finished third with 84 points. Holcomb was first with 27 and Hooker, Okla. second with 59 out of eight teams.
Austin Ritsema finished second in 16:14.43 and Alex Luce third in 16:16.10.
Brody Deniston of Holcomb won in 16:05.15.
Other Lakin runners were Zael Bermudez (14), Gabe Cox (33), Blue Matthews (38), Camden Bergkamp (47)and Brennen Bless (49).
The Lakin girls finished fourth of five teams.
Emma Miller placed eighth, running 21:46.54, and Claire Barnhardt was ninth, running 21:48.60.
Other Lakin runners were Amari Esquibel (32), Shillelagh Kenner (38), Addison Grusing (52), and Abby Holmes (54).
For the JV boys, Isaac Garcia finished fourth, Own Ostberg 11th, and Eric Munson 20th. Other runners were Salvador Bermudez (26), Aiden Fisher (30) and Kade Hartman (31).
Seventh and eighth grade boys ran a 1-mile race, with Tyler Johnson finishing fourth, Gavin Dyas 10th, Clark Maddux 15th, and Brantley Martin 21st.
For the middle school girls, Tess Barnhardt finished sixth and Kayslie Meyers was 32nd.
