Lakin hosts cross country

Lakin hosted the final regular season cross country meet Saturday.
The boys finished third with 91 points, behind Holcomb (37) and Meade (88).
Austin Ritsema led the boys with a second-place finish, running the 5-kilometer course in 15:49.69. Alex Luce finished third (16:03.21).
Winning time was 15:43.97 by Brody Deniston of Holcomb.
Zael Bermudez medaled 12th. Other runners were Blake Matthews (35), Camden Bergkamp (40), Gabe Cox (45), and Josiah Shultz (49).
Emma Miller was the top finisher for the girls, medaling in 13th place (21:57.40). Claire Barnhardt was 17th (22:09.65).
Other runners were Amari Esquibel (36), Shillelagh Kenner (49), Any Holmes (62) and Addison Grusing (65).
The varsity girls finished seventh of nine teams with 130 points. Scott City won with 46.
For the JV boys, Brennen Bless finished fourth and Isaac Jaquez seventh.
Middle school runners raced a 2-mile course.
Kate Miller won the eighth grade girls title, finishing in 12:16.89.
For the eighth grade boys, Tyler Johnson finished ninth (12:21.93) and Gavin Dyas 10th (12:22.30).
Top runner for the seventh grade boys was Clark Maddux, who finished fifth in 12:41.93. Blake Vazquez was 14th.
Tess Barnhardt led the seventh grade girls, finishing third (14:07.24). Kayslie Meyers finished 21st.
