Girls qualify at regional golf

Lakin hosted the Class 3-2-1A regional girls golf tournament Monday.
Mya Brown placed sixth (97) and Lileah Villa 12th (107) to qualify for the state meet in Emporia Monday and Tuesday.
Winning score was Amelia Bowles of Rawlins County, who shot a 1-over par 73.
Goodland won the team title with 382 strokes. Colby was second (403) and Syracuse third (425).
Lakin shot 490 as a team, with Maleigha Budd and Paiton Talmadge golfing in their first regional meet.
This is Brown’s second year to state in only her third year of golf. This is Villa’s first year of golf.
The top three teams and the next five individuals not on a qualifying team qualify for state.
To qualify for the second day of state, the top six teams and the next 18 individuals or 54 total golfers plus ties move on from Monday play.
