XC brings home league champs

At Thursday’s league cross country meet, Lakin brought home three championships.
Alex Luce won the high school boys title, Kate Miller was junior high girls champion, and the high school boys won the team title.
Lakin took the top three spots in the high school boys race, with Luce winning in 16:50.24.
Austin Ritsema finished second in 17:15.24, and Zael Bermudez was third (18:06.64).
Gabe Cox finished ninth and Camden Bergkamp 15th.
Josiah Shultz (18), Brennen Bless (19), Isaac Jaquez (23), and Owen Ostberg (26) were among the top Broncs.
The boys won the title with 25 points. Stanton County had 47 points and Southwestern Heights had 50.
The Lakin girls finished second with 37 points behind Heights (23).
Claire Barnhardt finished second, running 22:39.48. Emma Miller was fourth (23:11.90).
Amari Esquibel was 11th, Shillelagh Kentner 12th, Abby Holmes 20th and Addison Grusing 25th.
Kate Miller won the middle school girls title, running 12:33.85, over one minute faster than second place.
Jozlynn Heinrich finished eighth, Tess Barnhart ninth, and Kayslie Meyers 15th.
Tyler Johnson finished second for the junior high boys (12:38) and Gavin Dyas (12:44), Clark Maddux seventh (13:29) and Blake Vasquez 13th.
The high school will run the regional Class 3A meet in Norton Saturday.
