Broncs win on senior night

The football regular season ended Friday night with a Bronc win, 49-0 over Larned on senior night.

The win put Lakin in the No.-6 spot in the west playoff bracket, which means they host Halstead Friday night.

The Broncs amassed 363 total yards, while holding the Indians to just 95.

Colter Oldham led the team with 159 yards on just 20 carries. Adrik Gomez-Esquibel had 75 on five carries and Lucas McCombs had 31 on seven carries.

Dru Patterson was 4-of-7 passing with two touchdowns to Oldham, and Oldham passed once for 49 yards and a scoring play to Alex Robles.

Oldham scored on a 3-yard run, Gomez-Esquibel on a 4-yard play, and Robles on his scoring play to give the Broncs a 22-0 lead after one quarter.

Oldham scored from 15 yards on a running play and then returned a fumble 35 yards to put the Broncs up 36-0 by halftime.

Oldham scored on a 5-yard pass from Patterson in the third, and Patterson returned an interception 86 yards in the fourth to complete the Lakin scoring.

Kyle Douglas got in on nine tackles, and Eli Bemis had three sacks as Lakin dominated the Indians.

Both teams were penalized nine times, Lakin for 91 yards and Larned 85.

Lakin (6-2) hosts the Halstead Dragons (3-5) Friday, with the winner facing Beloit-Minneapolis winner in the regional the following week.
