Luce, Ritsema medal at final state cross country

Two of Lakin’s top cross country runners competed in their final state meet at the Class 3A competition in Lawrence Saturday.
Alex Luce finished fourth and Austin Ritsema sixth.
Winning time was 15:36.75 by Caleb Tofteland of Wichita-Trinity. Luce clocked in at 15:59.68 and Ritsema in 16:08.66
Holcomb won the team title with 58 points. Lakin finished fifth of the 12 teams with 124 points.
Zael Bermudez finished 58th (18:07), Gabe Cox 61st (18:15), Camden Bergkamp 64th (18:20), Blake Matthews 68th (18:29), and Josiah Sholtz 84th (18:56).
Note: Last season, Luce medaled seventh (16:00) and Ritsema 10th (16:12) at Rim Rock.
In 2022, Luce finished 11th (16:29) and Ritsema 13th (16:31), also at Rim Rock.
In 2021, Luce was 37th (18:15) and Ritsema 53rd (18:46) at the Wamego course.
