Kalen Anderson - Teacher Spotlight
Job Title: 5th-12th Band Director, Co-Teacher for English, 7-12 Contemporary Band
Little bit about Mr. Anderson: I graduated school from Lakin, KS so I'm back teaching in my hometown. I am married with 3 kids, a dog, and two cats. I've played musical instruments since I was in 4th grade
Years In Education and at Lakin: This is my 4th year at Lakin.
What do you like about teaching: I love the passion kids bring to band class, as band and contemporary band are social/emotional classes. In watching kids' passions grow, I feel fulfilled knowing that the kids are leaving my classroom having learned something.
Favorite Teaching memories: My favorite teaching memory is when I asked my HS students if they were interested in marching band. Most of my students jumped out of their chairs to shout yes before I could even finish my statement. This told me that we were doing something right in the band room.
Words of Wisdom to your students: Whatever you decide to do, give it your best effort. That way you can always be proud of the effort you gave and not the end result you end up with.
