Chris Bamberger - Teacher Spotlight
Job Title: MS/HS Strength and Conditioning/PE
Little bit about Coach Bam:
I graduated from Jetmore HS, went to Kansas State University and graduated there with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. I had the opportunity to play football at Kansas State for 5 years and got to play two years under the legendary Head Coach Bill Snyder. After college, I spent one year teaching 3rd grade at Roosevelt Elementary in Arkansas City, Ks. I then taught 6th grade at Ness City Grade School for 4 years as well as ran some strength classes. I later moved to an "At Risk/Strength” position at Ness City HS. I enjoyed my time teaching elementary, but my passion was in Strength and Conditioning so I began looking for opportunities to move to the weight room full time. That's how I ended up here at Lakin in PE as the Strength and Conditioning Coach. I have enjoyed my time in the weight room!
Years In Education and at Lakin: I've been in education for 16 years and I've spent 10 of them here at Lakin.
What do you like about teaching: I love that every day is a new day. It is rare to be doing the same thing each day we go to work. I love working with our kids and watching them grow and mature throughout their time with us. I also love that I get to have kids starting in middle school and, if they choose, can have them each year until graduation. It provides the opportunity to build some long lasting relationships with our students.
FavoriteTeaching memories: Although I truly love my content area, I really enjoyed the times in school where we were doing different things such as sports, camps and "club day" type activities where we get to know our students on a completely different level than the classroom presents.
Words of Wisdom to your students: Learn to appreciate the times when your cell phone is dead!
