Kayla Davis - Teacher Spotlight
Job Title: PreSchool Teacher
Little bit about Mrs. Davis: I came to Lakin 17 years ago from Deadwood, SD to teach special education and decided to stay! My husband, Josh, and I are enjoying raising our 4 children Kale, Lucia, Jaxon, and Landon. We stay very busy running from activity to activity. I love 4-wheeling, patio-sitting, reading, and going to movies. I’m definitely a homebody too so home is my favorite place.
Years In Education and at Lakin: I’ve been teaching for nearly 17 years and all of my years have been at Lakin Grade School! I started with HPEC and joined USD 215 4 years later.
What do you like about teaching: I love the joy and laughter amongst the kids the most! Teaching is just FUN! I love celebrating the kids when something clicks and watching them learn and grow. It’s also such a cool thing to watch them grow up throughout the years.
Favorite Teaching memories: Where do I start?! I have so many good memories. There were a few times when my 3rd graders had me laughing uncontrollably. A student pranked me with a fake snake one year! Kids have said so many funny things over the years. Those are my favorite! I really wish I started a book of kid quotes years ago.
Words of Wisdom to your students: DREAM BIG! Follow your dreams and reach for the sky! Be kind to others around you even when those people may be unkind to you. Fellow students, when you’re out on your own, call your parents/family often and let them know how much you love them.
