Girls compete in Ulysses

Lana Vazquez’s first place highlighted Friday’s meet at the Ron Smith Girls Invitational in Ulysses.
Vazquez went 4-0 at 110 pounds to claim the title, winning all four of her matches by fall. Her quickest fall came in 15 seconds in her first round.
She won her second match in 1:59, her semifinal in 3:22, and her title match in 51 seconds.
Paiton Talmadge placed second at 130, losing her championship match by a 6-2 decision.
Talmadge won all four of her other matches by fall, her fastest in 1:20.
Sarah Peters went 2-2 at 135 pounds. She won her first two rounds by fall. In her semifinal, Peters lost by a 6-0 decision and lost by fall in her third place match.
