Boys get win over Dodge City

The boys basketball team went into the winter break on a high note, defeating Class 6A Dodge City 68-60 on the home floor Dec. 20.
The Broncs (5-1) took a 34-20 lead into halftime and increased that to 56-35 by the end of the third.
Both teams shot around 46 percent from the floor, with Lakin hitting eight 3’s and the Red Demons 10. Lakin converted four more regular field goals and six more free throws.
Both teams committed 19 turnovers, with most of Lakin’s coming in the second half.
The Broncs won the rebounding 35-24, leading to a 17-3 advantage on second-chance points.
All five Lakin starters scored in double digits, with Adrik Gomez-Esquibel leading with 14.
Dru Patterson had 12 points (all on 3-pointers), Austin Ritsema and Nico Doume 11 each and Colter Oldham 10.
Oldham had three assists, Gomez-Esquibel four steals, and Ritsema 17 rebounds.
