Girls win over Dodge City

The Lakin girls got a big win going into the winter break, taking down Dodge City 38-31 at home Dec. 20.
Lakin held a 10-5 lead after one period and outscored the Red Demons 12-9 in the fourth to get the win, despite shooting just 24 percent from the floor.
The Broncs converted 12 of 50 shots inside the arc and one of five from outside.
Dodge City shot 10 of 20 from 2-point range but just 1 of 14 from the outside.
The Broncs took advantage of 28 Dodge City turnovers, scoring 17 points. The Red Demons scored just four points off 12 Lakin turnovers.
Dodge City won the rebounding game 36-24.
Aryn Michaelis led the Broncs with 16 points and Lileah Villa added 11.
Michaelis had seven rebounds and Villa had nine steals.
The girls will resume play in January with a 3-3 record.
