Jennifer Bachman - Teacher Spotlight

Job Title: Dean of Students and Science Teacher

Little bit about yourself:

I am what you would call a Lakin lifer.  I was born and raised in Lakin and graduated from Lakin High School in 1995.  After attending college I taught at Garden City High School for 2 years before moving to Lakin.  I have been teaching at Lakin HIgh School for 23 years and have loved every minute of it.  I am married to my husband Dewayne and 3 have kids:  Jace 21, Taegan 20, and Bode 16.  I have done a little bit of everything while being a teacher including; coaching volleyball, basketball, and track, STUCO sponsor, Prom Sponsor, and served on multiple committees within the school and community.

Years In Education and at Lakin:  25th year of teaching and 23rd year in Lakin  (I taught 2 years at Garden City High School before teaching at Lakin).

What do you like about teaching: I love my job for many reasons but mostly the interaction with students and the fact that it is different everyday.  There is never a dull moment when you are a teacher and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Favorite Teaching Memories:

I have so many, I can not just name one but in general I would have to say -  The many advisory and 8 to Great parties with my groups.  There is always lots of food, laughter, and friendships built.

Words of Wisdom to your students:

High school is what you make of it.  Those that make the most out of the opportunities presented to them during high school and in life never regret it.  Be you and focus on your goals and dreams (not your friend's goals).
