By LHSports

The Broncs overcame an underwhelming opening quarter to take down Syracuse 71-44 on Throwback Night Friday.

The Bulldogs dominated the Broncs in the first period 18-7, limiting Lakin to just 3-for-17 shooting.

But Lakin stormed back, taking the second period 24-3 and the third quarter 25-10 to improve to 6-1.

Nico Doume led the Broncs with 31 points, highlighted by back-to-back dunks on breakaway plays.

Lakin shot 37 percent for the game but shot 43 percent from the second quarter on.

Lakin won the rebounding, 48-35, and they dominated inside with 34 points in the paint to just 16 by the Bulldogs.

Doume was the only Bronc in double figures. The other six scorers had six points or more.

Doume, Colter Oldham and Austin Ritsema each had nine rebounds.

Adrik Gomez-Esquibel had nine assists and Doume had four steals.

After a game in Holcomb Tuesday, the Broncs will be in the HPL tournament hosted by Syracuse.
