Girls hold off Syracuse

The Lakin girls pulled away from the Bulldogs of Syracuse Friday night, taking the Throwback Night game 52-39.

The Broncs led 16-14 after one quarter and 24-18 midway into the second before settling for a 27-26 halftime edge.

The Bulldogs took a 29-27 lead midway into the third period, their final lead of the game. Lakin outscored Syracuse 25-10 the rest of the game to move to 4-3.

Lakin shot 40 percent from the floor and held the Bulldogs to 24 percent.

Lakin won the rebounding, 33-27. They outscored Syracuse 21-8 on points off turnovers.

Jordan McCombs led the Broncs with 20 points and Aryn Michaelis had 18.

Michaelis had 10 rebounds with 10. McCombs had four steals and three assists.

After playing at Holcomb Tuesday, the Broncs will be in action next week in the league tournament hosted by Syracuse.
