Girls fall to Holcomb

It was a tale of two quarters for the Broncs as the girls fell to Holcomb Tuesday 54-39 at Holcomb.
Lakin scored the first nine points of the game and led 14-6 at the end of the first quarter. But the Longhorns outscored the Broncos 18-6 to lead 24-20 at halftime.
The Broncs tied the game 24-24 midway into the third period, but Holcomb outscored Lakin 30-15 the rest of the way to get the win.
Lakin shot 32 percent from the floor, while Holcomb was just 29 percent. Holcomb took advantage of 16 Lakin turnovers, converting those into 18 points.
Aryn Michaelis led the team 14 points, and Lileah Villa added 10.
Michaelis had 11 rebounds, Emma Miller had two steals and Villa had three assists.
Lakin (4-4) will compete in the Hi-Plains League tournament Jan. 20-25, hosted by Syracuse.
