Wrestlers compete in Scott City

The wrestling teams traveled to Scott City for the 40th annual Wrestling Classic this past Saturday, highlighted by one champion.

Girls

Luna Vazquez placed first in the 110-pound division to improve to 20-8 for the season.

Vazquez won by fall (1:00) in her quarterfinal and again by fall (4:26) in her semifinal. She took down Haylie McDaniel of Scott City by a 5-2 decision in the title match.

Miley Roth went 1-2 at 130 pounds, getting a fall in her consolation round (1:117) for her lone win.

Jersey Gonzalez competed at 120 pounds, going 0-2.

Boys

The boys took a partial squad to the Scott City meet, picking up 10.5 points in the 23-team event.

Camden Bergkamp picked up four team points at 157 pounds. He lost his first round but picked up wins in two consolation matches. He won by fall (1:13) and by a 2-1 decision before losing in his third consolation match.

Jesse Lancaster scored 3.5 points at 138 pounds, going 1-2. He won his first round by technical fall (21-5), but then lost his next two matches by technical falls.

Weston Loeppke picked up three team points at 165 pounds. He lost by fall in his first round but picked up a win by fall (:30) in his first consolation round before losing his next match.

Zael Bermudez (120 pounds), Levi Lippelman (150) and Adan Ornelas (190) also competed.
