Wendy Hill - Teacher Spotlight
Job Title: English Teacher at LHS
Little bit about Mrs. Hill: I was born and raised in Lakin, and after moving around a bit after high school, I intentionally returned home to start and raise my own family in my hometown. I am married to Mark Hill and have 4 kids and 7 grandkids.
Education Experience:
I began teaching at USD 215 in August of 1993. I received my Bachelor's from St. Mary of the Plains College, my Master's from Leslie University, my Teacher Trainer license for Differentiation and Classroom Management from The Center for Teacher Effectiveness, and my National Training License from True Colors International. I spent over 20 years teaching 5th and 6th grade math, but the most recent years teaching Consumer Math, Career Exploration and SEL, and most recently English 1 and 2 among other roles as needed.
Favorite Teaching Memories: I have so many good memories about teaching that I could not possibly pick only one. To see students grow and mature and knowing that I got to be part of that journey, is the most rewarding part of my career. I was blessed to do it all in my hometown.
Words of Wisdom to my Students: Having 30 years in education at multiple levels and areas, my words of wisdom to students would be this: If you have work ethic, integrity, and stay away from addictions, you can become anything you set your mind to. Get off your phone, get outside and be active, and go become the amazing person God intended you to become.
