Boys drop final regular season game
The boys basketball team finished the regular season last Tuesday with a 64-63 loss at Hugoton.
The loss meant the Broncs finished the season 16-4 but still entered this week’s sub-state tournament as the top seed.
The Eagles took a 23-12 lead after the opening quarter, but the Broncs came back in the second, 24-11 to take a 2-point lead at halftime.
The game was tied at 52 heading into the final quarter, but a 12-11 final period got Hugoton the win.
Lakin shot just 34 percent from the floor, hitting 8 of 27 from 2-point range and 12 of 32 from behind the arc.
Hugoton outscored Lakin on transition points, 17-4, and they out rebounded the Broncs 46-31.
Lakin was whistled for 26 fouls to Hugoton’s 15.
Dom Daniels led the Broncs with 20 points. Sonnie Altman had 17 and Hunter Davis 16.
Altman had nine rebounds, Daniels had four steals and Davis had five assists to lead in those categories.
