Broncs dominate in substate semi

The Broncs boys advanced to the substate title game with a convincing 63-35 win over visiting Hoisington Wednesday.
Lakin set the tone early with an 18-4 first quarter, then taking the halftime lead of 35-11.
The Broncs shot 53 percent from the floor, including 21 of 31 inside the arc and 5 of 18 from 3-point range.
The Cardinals shot 37 percent but were just 11 of 29 overall.
The Broncs outscored Hoisington 11-4 on second-chance points, 36-16 in the paint, and 12-8 off transitions.
They also won the rebound battle, 30-20, including nine-3 on the offensive side.
Nico Doume led the Broncs with 19 points. Adrik Gomez-Esquibel had 11 and Austin Ritsema 10.
Doume led the team with nine rebounds and Ritsema added seven.
Gomez-Esquibel had four of Lakin’s 15 assists, while Doume had five of the Broncs’ 12 steals.
Lakin (21-1) advances to Saturday’s final against Beloit at 5 p.m. in Scott City, with the winner moving on to the state tournament in Hutchinson.
