Track teams open season

The track season got underway Thursday with a meet in chilly Ulysses.
The boys placed second and the girls third.
Boys results
The boys finished second among eight schools with 93.33 points. Scott City won the meet with 110 points.
Austin Ritsema was one of three Broncs to capture two gold medals. The senior won the 800-meter run (2:08.87) and the 3200-meter run (10:59.38.
Ross Ryder won the long jump (19-6) and the triple jump (43-9.75).
Colter Oldham won the shot put (50-11) and the discus (163-7.75).
Quincy Esquibel placed second in the triple jump (43-6) and third in the long jump (19-0).
Tyelor Holloway was third in the 200-meter dash (23.83) and fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.90).
Lakin placed two in the pole vault. Jesse Lancaster got fourth (9-6) and Cade Berning sixth (9-0).
Timmy Johnson picked up a fifth place in the 110-meter hurdles (16.95).
Camden Bergkamp placed sixth in the 1600-meter run (5:26.90).
The 4x800 relay team of Zael Bermudez, Adan Vazquez, Bergkamp and Josiah Schultz placed fifth (9:54.07).
Girls results
The girls scored 97.5 points to third behind Liberal (143.5) and Scott City (98).
Aryn Michaelis was a triple gold winner. The sophomore won the high jump (5-0), the triple jump (37-2.25) and the 100-meter hurdles (15.67).
Alyssa Edgington was the other Bronc gold medalist, winning the long jump (16-6).
Emma Miller won silver twice, placing second in the 800-meter run (2:53.47) and the 1600-meter run (6:17.26).
Amari Esquibel picked up silver in the 100-meter dash (14.24).
Sapphire Harris placed fourth in the pole vault (8-6), and Jordan McCombs was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.46).
Honey Murillo was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.15).
The 4x100-meter relay team finished third (54.5), and the 4x800 relay of Miller, Shillelagh Kenner, Claire Barnhardt and Harris was fourth (11:56.34).
