Softball sweeps Elkhart

The softball team picked up a pair of run-rule, three-inning games against Elkhart at home Tuesday, both by 16-1 scores.

In the first game, Paityn Ansel collected a single in all three innings to lead the Broncs’ 11-hit attack.

Lileah Villa started a 10-run scoring onslaught in the third inning with a triple and added a double later in the same inning.

Lakin took a 6-1 lead in the second inning after the Wildcats scored a run in the first.

Villa led the Broncs with five runs batted in.

Moriah Ortiz got the win, giving up the one run (unearned) and one hit, striking out seven and walking one.

In the second game, Julia Arreola drove in six runs on two hits to lead the Bronc attack.

Lakin scored eight runs in the first inning, six in the second and two in the third to get the win.

Ortiz got the win again, giving up one run (unearned) and three hits, striking out three and walking three.

Ortiz hit a home run in the first game and Villa had one in the second.
