Middle school track dominates in Wichita County

Three of the four middle school track teams took first in Thursday’s action at Wichita County.

The seventh grade boys and girls and eighth grade boys all won team titles.

The seventh grade girls won with 133 points over runner-up Southwestern Heights’ 79.

The seventh grade boys won with 192 points over runner-up Wesson’s 71.5.

The eighth grade boys scored 145 points over Wichita County’s 88.

The eighth grade girls finished fifth with 52 points. Stanton County won with 83.

7th grade girls

Kamry Michaelis and Tess Barnhardt each won three events.

Michaelis won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.55 seconds.

She also won the high jump, clearing 5-5, which is the best jump in the country for a seventh grader, according to Sports in Kansas—and would be the third best jump in Kansas high school (5-7).

She completed the trifecta by winning the triple jump, leaping 33-2.

Barnhardt won the 100-meter dash, running 13.55 seconds. She took the 200-meters in 28.34, and she won the 400-meter title, running 1:03.72.

Kaylie Meyers won the 1600 meters in 6:47.40. The 4x100 relay also finished first (55.68).

Finishing second were Lance Waechter in the 100-meters and the pole vault, and Tynslee Wiseman in the 200-meter hurdles. Kai Calkinsn finished fourth in the 200-meter hurdles.

7th grade boys

Lakin took six golds in their winning effort.

Miles Delgado won the 100-meter hurdles in 19.10 seconds. He also took the title in the 800 meters, running 2:41.37.

Jaden Valle won the 3200 meters in 13:01.97.

Lakin won all three relay races—the 4x100 (53.97), the 4x200 (2:04.58), and the 4x400 (4:29.86).

Calvin Gugelmeyer was second in the 100-meter hurdles. Delgado was second in the 1600 meters. Sperry Blaine finished second in the 200-meter dash and the long jump. David Villa was second in the triple jump.

Jace Berning finished second in the 800 meters, and Dylan Wozencroft was second in the discus and the shot put.

Finishing third were Blaine in the 100-meter dash, Berning in the 1600 meters, Valle Emanuel in the 400-meter dash, Aaron Kiessel in the shot put, Valle in the 200-meter hurdles, and Wyatt Eck in the high jump.

Finishing fourth were Clark Maddux in the 1600 meters and triple jump, Emanuel in the high jump, Valle in the 800 meters, and Karson Lovelady in the javelin.

8th grade boys

The eighth grade boys won just three titles in their team win.

Jaxson Meyers won the 100-meter hurdles, running 15.04. Cage Line won the shot put, throwing 42-4. Avery Manzano won the 200-meter hurdles in 28.36.

Finishing second on the track were Manzano in the 100-meter hurdles, Gavin Dyas in the 3200 meters, and the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.

Finishing second in the field were Line in the discus, Parker Campas in the triple jump, and Devin Wozencroft in the shot put.

Third place finishers: Line in the 100-meter dash and the pole vault, Dyas in the 1600 meters, Campas in the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump, Tyler Johnson in the 3200 meters, and Wozencroft in the discus.

Finishing fourth were Johnson in the 1600 meters, Meyers in the 200-meter hurdles, Wozencroft in the javelin, and the 4x200 relay.

8th grade girls

Sydny Holloway captured two golds to highlight the eighth grade girls. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 18.17 seconds and the pole vault by clearing 7-0. Holloway was also third in the 200-meter hurdles.

The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams placed third.

Placing fourth were Lyndsey Loeppke in the 200-meter hurdles, and Chloe Stahlecker in the triple jump and the high jump.
