Last Tuesday the Lakin Broncs looked to complete a perfect regular season when they took on the Hugoton Eagles at home.
In the end, however, it was the state's top-ranked team falling to the No.-5 team, 74-65, spoiling Lakin's senior night.
Lakin led 18-11 at the first quarter and had a 32-26 lead by halftime.
Hugoton came back in the third, outscoring the Broncs 24-10 to take the lead for good.
The Broncs had 12 points off turnovers while the Eagles had four and had a 12-4 edge on points off turnovers, but the Eagles outscored Lakin in the paint, 46-22.
The Eagles outrebounded the Broncs by 13, 39-26.
Leading the way for Lakin was Dom Daniels with 18 points, and Servando Gonzalez with 16.
Hunter Davis and Jace Bachman led the team in rebounds with five each.
Davis also led with four assists, four deflections, and two steals.
Lakin finishes the season at 19-1, heading into sub-state as the top-seed in the Larned bracket.
