After dropping the first two games of the season on Monday, the softball team bounced back at home Thursday with a pair of wins over Ulysses, 19-3 and 16-4.
In game one, the Broncs broke open the game in the second inning, when they scored seven runs, highlighted by a grand slam home run by Talyn Beltran.
They polished off the Tigers with an 8-run fourth, with Sara Wright hitting an inside-the-park homer.
The Broncs pounded out 19 hits with three each by Beltran, Brianna Holmes and Jaya Esquibel.
The Broncs also stole 10 bases, with two each by Esquibel and Beltran.
Taegan Bachman got the win, pitching two innings, giving up four hits and one earned run.
Cadence Brown pitched two innings in relief.
In game two, Lakin led 5-3 when they exploded for 10 runs in the third inning.
Beltran went 4-for-4 at the plate and Esquibel got three hits.
Wright and Beltran both hit a triple.
Esquibel had three of the Broncs’ 11 steals.
Bachman pitched all five innings, striking out six and walking three.
