Middle School girls' teams place first by Media Tech class
Both the middle school seventh and eighth grade girls' teams took team titles at a meet in Cimarron Thursday.
The seventh grade scored 104 points to runner-up Stanton County's 80, while the eighth graders outscored Bucklin 120-69.
Amari Esquibel picked up a pair of sprint wins for the seventh grade, clocking 14.97 seconds in the 100 meters and 30.16 in the 200 meters.
Jordan McCombs won the 100-meter hurdles in 18.83 seconds and the 200 hurdles in 34.57.
McCombs and Esquibel teamed with Re-cie Dixson and Abby Holmes to win the 4x100 relay (57.02).
Dixon was runner-up in the 200 meters (31.02), while Holmes placed third in the long jump (12-10).
Ameera Nebauer placed second in the triple jump (26-5.5).
Leading the eighth grade girls was Alyssa Edgington with a pair of wins. She was first in the 100-meter dash (14.07) and the 100-meter hurdles (18.44), as well as second in the pole vault with a school record of 7-0.
Maile White got a win in the 400 meters (1:08.83), and second in the 1600 meters (6:31.24) and high jump (4-8).
Moriah Ortiz won the shot put (31-3.75) and second in the 200-meter hurdles (35.17).
Kyleigh Perez placed second in the triple jump (27-2) and third in the 100-meter hurdles (20.11).
The 4x100 relay placed second (Halle Woodrow, Ortiz, Luna Vazquez and Edgington).
