The trip to Elkhart last Friday for the league meet proved well worth as as both the girls and the boys claimed team titles.
The girls claimed the title with 165 points, well ahead of runner-up Stanton County’s 137.
The boys had a similar result, out-pointing the Trojans 157-124.
Girls
Anne Sophe Van Der Knaap claimed the girls’ first title when she cleared 4-10 to win the high jump.
Tiana Gonzalez leaped 33-04.5 to win the triple jump title, with Ryan Rider (33-01) and Van Der Knaap (32-05) coming in second and third.
Jordan Webb won the discus title, throwing 88-09, with Taegan Bachman coming in second (85-05).
Webb placed second in the shot put (30-08.5) and Bachman was third in the javelin (91-05).
In the 100-meter hurdles, Josiah Ortiz placed second in 18.72 seconds, while Staija Dohogne was fourth (19.77).
Van Der Knaap placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (52.34 seconds), and Erin Urie was second in the 200-meter dash (28.91).
Urie was third in the 100-meter dash (14.09 seconds, while Ortiz was third in the pole vault (8-00), with Rider placing fourth (8-00).
Jordan Ortiz was third in the 1600 meters (6:08.38), with Melissa Minetti finishing fourth (6:10.20).
Minetti placed third in the 3200 meters, with Jordan Ortiz placing fourth.
Grace Ostberg was third in the 400-meter dash and Tiana Gonzalez fifth.
The 4x100 relay of Gonzalez, Ostberg, Rider and Urie placed second.
The 4x800 relay finished third, as did the 4x400.
Boys
Aron Pinter, an exchange student from Hungary, cleared 5-10 to claim the high jump title.
Lawson Beymer won the 1600-meter run in 4:54.97. He was second in the 800 and fourth in the 3200.
Edwin Garcia placed third in the 800, 1600 and 3200.
Lakin won the 4x100-meter relay title. They were second in the 4x800 relay and in the 4x400 relay, losing the latter by just .03 seconds.
Picking up second on the track were Curtis Beam in the 110-meter hurdles (18.51 seconds), Servando Gonzalez in the 100-meter dash (12.17), Ty Davidson in the 400 meters (53.31), Tyler Tarpley in the 300-meter hurdles (44.33) and Brady Hendrix in the 200-meter dash 23.69).
Ethan Horton placed fourth in the 800 meters.
In the field, Omar Gonzalez placed second in the discus (118-03), with Adrian Arreola finishing third.
Josue Peraza placed fifth in the pole vault (9-0).
